| The site loaded fine. It
displays well in 800x600.
Coordinated colors, so it has a pulled-together look.
Plenty of extras and products, but it's still not cluttered -- good organization.
Nice touch having the selections to listen to.
Navigation is good, except for note below.
CATEGORIES:
"music cds"
- took a bit long too load (on a cable modem)
- under the thumbnails is a listing, it says "Catagory Page(s)" but, they seem
to actually be CD titles
BASKET:
"You may start the finalize your order by clicking on
the checkout button or you may choose to continue shipping."
>> fix wording: "...start THE finalize..."
>> fix wording: "...continue SHIPPING..."
SPELLING & GRAMMAR:
Check throughout the site:
- catagory should be "category" )
- "about bostopete.com" at bottom of pages
HELP:
Under "How do I locate a specific section at
BostonPete.com..."
Says "Click on the left arrow of the menu to select your interest then click on
"GO" with your mouse and your web browser will navigate to your selected
page."
>> Don't know what this is referring to.
Under "When is my credit card charged for an
order?"
Your credit card will not be charged when finalizing your order at check at
on-line...."
>> Ok, when will it be?
Did a "find" for "privacy" in Help
& didn't find anything.
>> later found it under the category tree
PRIVACY POLICY:
This is very short. Consider adding or linking to the
Security Info, which is also an important part of "privacy" online.
>> at the bottom, after the "Home" link is
"Join Newsletter" in bold (but it doesn't link anywhere.)
PRODUCTS LIST:
Took quite a long time to load (on cable modem). Consider
limiting the number of items per page.
NAVIGATION:
From a product page:
- clicked "tell a friend" to look at it, then clicked Back button.
- clicked "add to basket" (took me to the basket)
- clicked "continue shopping"
>> the "tell a friend" page displayed, instead of the product page
ADD TO GIFT LIST:
Is it required to add comments? I did not. Just, clicked
"Next"
>> Clicking "View gift list" from storefront goes to a page saying
"Invalid Search"
- Oh, It wasn't clear to me (so, probably to others) that even WHILE a shopper is logged
in, they STILL need to enter their code to see the gift list.
The code must include any hyphens in the phone number --
the first couple times it did.
ON THE GIFT LIST PAGE:
It says "If you are selecting an item which should be
removed from the list when you purchase it, e.g. birthday presents, then check the remove
from gift list box before adding item to your cart/basket."
>> can not find a "remove from gift list box"
ON THE STOREFRONT PAGE:
"Help" (under "view gift list") could
get confused with general help (that's what I thought it was). Consider naming it
"gift list help"
CHECKOUT:
Consider having the "help" link also at the
bottom of pages, so it's available during the checkout process, if needed.
The first check out page says "We accept American
Express, Visa, MC, Discover, PayPal, or call with payment."
>> help says "We accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard. We also
accept PayPal, checks and money orders. ...If you wish to pay by check or money order,
complete the online order form. On the "Payment Selection" page, select the
"Pay by check or money order" option."
Enter Toronto, Canada for "Ship To" and the
Shipping page has the message:
"Domestic Standard Shipping is free. International orders maybe contacted regarding
shipping cost."
> "may be contacted' should probably be "will be contacted"
(However, at this point, many shoppers do abandon the checkout.)
Consider restating the shipping policy in the footer on the
checkout-shipping page.
I CREATED A NEW (FAKE) ACCOUNT (but, did
not order anything)
